The Diamond Dogs Gain National Attention In 2011.

Season Wrap Up -
The Diamond Dogs finished the 2011 season with an overall record of 47 - 13 - 1, while playing the very best competition in the central and southern states. Over the course of the season the Diamond Dogs faced teams from (11) different states, including Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan and Colorado. The Dogs brought home five tournament titles in 2012, including a select league title at the 12U age division. The Dogs earned name recognition from the very best teams in the nation with their performance at the Super NIT in Memphis, their 3rd place finish in Omaha and their 3rd place finish at the AAYBA World Series. We have earned the respect of our peers with our competitive play and gracious demeanor. We look to build on our past success, as we strive towards our ultimate goal at the All Star Classic in Cooperstown NY on July 7, 2012.
Introducing the 2012 Missouri Diamond Dogs !!!
#2 Gage Patton
Gage really stepped up his game in the 2011 season, posting his best offensive numbers in his career. He also secured the starting catcher position with his blocking ability and quick release. We look forward to watching him continue his progression in 2012.

#5 Matt Davis
Matt continued his consistent hitting at the plate in 2011, posting an average over .460 for his third consecutive year. He has proven to be a reliable starter on the mound and is looking forward to earning more innings as he develops his off speed pitches in the off season.

#6 Jake Verschoore
Jake improved his plate awareness in 2011, making him a nearly impossible out at the plate. A career .590 hitter, Jake is also one of the most versitile defensive players on the team. He is the only Diamond Dog to post 100 hits in a season. His greatest asset though is his insatiable desire to succeed.

#7 Nolan Herbst
Nolan continued his timely hitting in 2011, posting several go ahead RBI on the season. He has great command of the strike zone and draws a lot of walks, while rarely striking out. Expect his power numbers to climb in 2012 as he continues to grow stronger.

#8 Dylan Hansen
Dylan quickly locked up a starting role on the pitching staff in 2011 with his pin point control and devastating change up. He batted lead off most of the year, always working the count and posting an on base percentage of .597. We look forward to his progress on the mound as he continues to master his pick off moves in the off season.

#10 Zachary Hurwitz
Zachary solidified his role as the staff ace this year by posting a team low 4.10 ERA in 2011, thereby earning the Diamond Dogs Golden Arm Award. I also believe he had his most consistent year at the plate. He is continuing to develop his knuckleball this off season and will only get better.

#12 Justin Bote
Justin begins his Diamond Dogs career in 2012 after successful seasons with the St. Louis Royales and Missouri Longhorns. Justin has all the tools to be one of the top players in 2012. He has that rare combination of power, speed and ability that so many of the Dogs possess, making him an instant fit.
#13 Nick Schmidt
Nick continued his elite play in 2011, posting career highs in hits and runs scored. He really stepped up his defense in 2011 and took his fielding to another level. Nick has earned the title of team captain, he leads by example through hard work and dedication.

#15 Tom Burke
Tom charged on to the scene this year, in his first season with the Diamond Dogs. He lead the team in hits and batting average, posting a .590 average for the season and earning him the Silver Slugger Award. We look forward to seeing how he builds on the instant success he attained last year.

#33 Gage Dwyer
Gage worked hard in the off season to refine his swing and choose better pitches to hit, and boy did it pay off. Gage led the team in triples, home runs and walks proving that the work you do in the winter pays big dividends in the summer. He has his sights on great things and I have no doubt he will put in the work to achieve his goals.

#44 Caleb Carswell
Calebs numbers increased in nearly every category in 2011, including posting a .512 average. He also made great strides as a pitcher in 2011. After not posting any innings in 2010, he became a go-to guy on the mound for the Dogs in 2011. Caleb's greatest asset though is his intensity and focus, he has no fear on the field. We expect to see his power numbers increase in 2012, as he builds strength.
